Member Alert: Beware of Scam Targeting Local Dentists
The Augusta Dental Society recently made GDA staff aware of a scam targeting local dentists. A man is calling dental practices and posing as a US Marshal named David Lyons. He has a very convincing story that you have missed a federal court appearance and that he has a certified letter that has your signature on it.
The story is convincing enough that there have been 4 dentists and even more physicians at the federal courthouse today as a result. David Lyons is a real US Marshal based out of Savannah, but this is someone posing as David Lyons. The Marshal's office has already called the FBI to begin investigating.
